Things that I have learnt since yesterday...

26,500-30,000 children die each day due to poverty

...thats about the same number of people who died from 9-11...times by 8. ...Every Day!

"This generation will be remembered for three things:
the Internet, the war on terror, and how we let an entire
continent go up in flames while we stood around with watering cans."

- Bono

I decided that I needed to do something. So instead of sitting at home thinking about how horrible it all is I decided to take a step out there and sponsor a child.

Song lyrics that have really impacted my life since yesterday:

Love Is Here by Tenth Avenue North:

Come to the waters, you who thirst and you'll thirst no more.
So incredibly true. I don't know why I haven't went to God for so many things. Lately I've been so dry. It's like the water was right in front of me but I wasn't drinking it.

Come to the lover you who want and you'll want no more.
I know I need to give my life up to God more fully. I've kept parts of my life from him and I'm paying the price. I keep forgetting how much love He has for me and how his love is all I need. He knows best for me and will do best for me because He loves me.

Revolution by Starfield:

I am a war already won.
I have a HUGE fear of the enemy. I always forget that God has already won. He sent his son to die. That was when the battle was won. I know that. Yet in a world so messed up and corrupt I always find myself forgetting. Life is a battle yet I'm already on the winning side.

When the hungry lay dead, while the rich live on, I will rise above,
I will live for love, I will answer to the call
So this just happens to be another hint to what I feel God has called me to. I forever have felt something to help the needy and less fortunate. I considered WYAM and other missionary organizations. But I don't want to focus on sharing the Gospel. I want to focus on helping people. I want to be sharing the Gospel as a side part of it. I want them to know God by the way we help them and the way we care, not by the dance or skit we do. So I'm still struggling with figuring out how to do it. But I KNOW that this is what God has called me to.

I Will Go by Starfield:

To the desperate eyes and reaching hands
to the suffering and the lame
to the ones the world has cast aside
where you want me I will be

I will go, I will go, I will go, Lord, send me to the world
To the lost, to the poor and hungry
Take everything I am
I'm clay within your hands
I will go, I will go, send me

Let me not be blind with privilege
Give me eyes to see the pain
Let the blessings you've poured out on me
Not be spend on me in vain
Let this life be used for change

I want to live for you
Go where you lead me
I want to follow you

Quite possibly the song that has meant the most to me. Pretty much every part of it speaks to me in some way.
